I would like to inform you that the government of Germany has now submitted its periodic report to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child.  You will find the English version attached to this message.  Due to the considerable backlog of reports, the report of Germany will only be considered at the June 2003 pre-sessional working group meeting of the Committee and at the 34th session of the Committee in October 2003. The deadline for the submission of information by NGOs has been set at 1 February 2003. The Committee prefers to receive information from groups of NGOs particularly on thematic issues.  I would therefore urge you to work with others who have similar information should you be interested in submitting information to the Committee.
